Former NFL star Antonio Brown could face a class-action lawsuit from Albany Empire players and coaches. Brown is the owner of Albany Empire in the National Arena League.
According to Coach Moe Leggett, players and staff were paid after the team’s final game on June 9. However, they noticed that their checks were reversed and the amount taken from their bank accounts.
According to NFL betting sources, the team owes the players at least $500 for the game. Leggett said he tried to believe in Brown. However, that trust has already deteriorated. Alex Gunaris, the team accountant, emailed the media outlet to explain that payroll had been delayed due to missing gear.
Albany Empire Players to Sue Antonio Brown
The Albany Empire was an arena football team that played in the National Arena League (NAL) for two seasons. Brown bought a stake in the team in March 2023, along with his father, Eddie Brown, a legendary player for the Albany Firebirds in the Arena Football League (AFL). However, Brown’s ownership was marred by controversies and conflicts with the league and his employees.
Sports betting news said the NAL expelled the Empire from the league on June 15, 2023, after Brown failed to pay his league assessments and a fine for conduct detrimental to the league. The assessments are required from every team to cover the league’s operating budget. Brown also reportedly expressed his intention to move the team to the AFL next year, which angered the NAL owners.
The players and staff are in a tough predicament since they have no other method to receive the money they believe they are owed. Fabian Guerra, a former wide receiver with the Empire, agreed with the choice to suit Brown. Leggett has not given up hope of finding a willing attorney.
In the past, people who bet on sports used to love Brown. He spent 12 years in the NFL and was selected to the Pro Bowl seven times. He also received four All-Pro selections.
