The Hana Financial Group defended its title after it became the KPGA Tournament of Sponsors winner. On Sunday, the Seungsu Han, Park Eun-shin, and Ham Jeong-woo team bested everyone at the Cypress Gold and Resort in Jeju.
KPGA players represented participating corporate sponsors in the Young Society Final. For the second year in a row, the competition has taken place. Hana Financial Group, CJ, and Woori Financial Group were among the twelve sponsors that sent 29 players to the tournament.
CJ ranked first going into the event. On the other hand, the Hana Financial Group was second. Thus, the latter beating the odds surprised some bettors.
KPGA Tournament of Sponsors Winner
According to sports betting reports, the tournament was played according to the Stableford format, a way of scoring in golf wherein points are awarded according to the number of strokes played at each hole. Not by taking the most shots but by accruing predefined points for various scores, the golfer with the highest score wins the tournament, in contrast to stroke play, where the goal is to have the lowest score. Eight points were awarded for an albatross, five for an eagle, two for a birdie, zero for a par, one for a bogey, and three for a double bogey under the tournament’s modified Stableford system.
Ham, Han, and Park, who make up the Hana Financial Group, each played a round of six holes. After 18 holes, the threesome tied for first place with CJ’s Lee Jae-kyeong and Jung Chan-min, 29 points each, necessitating a playoff hole, the par-4 18th. Hana Financial Group won the Young Society final for the second year, thanks to a par from Lee and a birdie from Ham.
According to sports betting picks experts, Park won the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award after completing six holes with three birdies. Aside from taking home the Genesis Point Award this year, Sunday’s victory gave Ham even more cause to celebrate. The golfer with the most Genesis points wins the Genesis Point Award at the season’s conclusion. A golfer’s point total increases directly to his KPGA event finish. With a win at the October Hyundai Insurance KJ Choi Invitation, Ham finished the 2023 season with eleven top-ten finishes.
