It was an exciting week of poker action in South Korea. The Jeju Shinhwa World hosted a World Poker Tour stop that attracted 758 poker players. In the end, Yin Tao won the WPT Korea Main Event. He earned $232,667 and a trophy.
In another event, Steve O’Dwyer won the KRW 17 million buy-in WPT Alpha8 One Drop. WPT Chief Executive Officer Adam Pliska said they had an incredible experience in Jeju. According to poker rooms reports, the Main Event of WPT Korea paid out the top 95 finishers. Also, the total prize pool is $1.7 million. Tao competed for the win in an ICM deal against Valeriy Pak and Chao Ting Cheng. The latter was the chip leader when the three agreed to the deal to take home the most significant sum.

As the last cards were dealt against Pak in heads-up play, Tao was overcome with emotion and declared the winner.

Arden Cho, star of the TV show Teen Wolf, ended in 80th place ($4,858) in the WPT Korea Main Event, while O’Dwyer, who won $100,000 in the One Drop event, finished in 29th place ($9,470).
O’Dwyer finished third place at the Triton Cyprus Super High Roller in May, earning $1.2 million. Thus, he entered the WPT Alpha8 One Drop with $36.7 million in Hendon Mob earnings and emerged victorious.
